about

‘3 Things I Miss’ is a self reflective work in 3 parts.
Each part contains pieces of me that I feel incomplete without.

Part 1 : ‘Open Air”. Being outdoors and feeling the movement of the air. Where has it been? Where is it going? Space it enters and occupies for a time. Forces that drive it. Objects it envelops. Freedom to move forward. Flight.

Part 2 : “What Moves Me” - A love letter to so many things that have infused a desire in me to express or create. Musicians, instruments, sounds, rhythms, frequencies. All the noises and noise makers I love.

Part 3 : “Love, as I understand it”
This piece was born out of a 3 minute section of an improvisation that connected with me. I felt it had a delicacy and invoked a sense of pathos that caused me to reflect on times past. It reminds of family, childhood, growing up and growing older. It also contains a nod to the first album my Dad ever bought me - Jan Hammer’s Escape From Television.

‘3 Things I Miss’ is intended to be a journey rather than a quick listen and is not really suitable for listening on phone or laptop speakers! Use some good headphones or speakers - it's worth it!

Thanks for listening.

about

Rob Spaull Wales, UK

I grew up in North Wales spending most of my time locked in my dad’s studio playing around with Yamaha MSXs, Atari STs, Roland and Korg synths and reel-to-reel tapes.
I escaped the studio and went to study a BA(Hons) in Creative Music Technology.
I now spend a lot of my time working with young artists and composing for theatre, promo films and dance as well as remixing and writing my own stuff!
